MK:201/5 - External Microphone, Preamplifier and 5m Extension Cable
MK:201/10 - External Microphone, Preamplifier and 10m Extension Cable

CR:514 Acoustic CalibratorAcoustic Calibrator

The SoundSign is supplied with the sound levels calibrated. However, if you wish to check the calibration levels of your SoundSign, a CR:514 Class 2 Acoustic Calibrator is ideal.

We would recommend using an Acoustic Calibrator when an external microphone is used. If you have any questions please contact us and we will be pleased to help.

CK:306 Sound Level MeterSimple Sound Level Meter

The SoundSign uses a simple microphone that is attached to the top of the Master unit.

This measures the noise level and this information is used to trigger the SoundSign when the noise goes over the set level.

If the SoundSign is mounted onto a wall away from where the noise is generated, it may be necessary to adjust the tirgger level to take account of the distance between the SoundSign and the noise source.

The best way to do this is to measure the noise at these two points using a Sound Level Meter such as the Cirrus CR:306 and to make an adjustments needed. Click here for more details of the CR:306 Sound Level Meter.

Outdoor Microphones

The SoundSign can be connected to a standard Cirrus Microphone Preamplifier and this allows it to be used with an outdoor microphone and extension cable. This would allow the measurement position to be outdoors with the SoundSign located inside where it can be clearly seen.

An example of this would be if, during warm weather, a factory door was opened which allowed noise to escape and to impact upon local residents. A weatherproof microphone could be placed outdoors with the SoundSign inside so that the employees would know when they were likely to cause a problem.

If you have any questions about using an outdoor micorphone with the SoundSign, please contact us and we will be pleased to help.
